Beneath the teak – Superyacht Investor London, a B2B event for superyacht professionals
This week, we were at Superyacht Investor London 2025, where our European Director Mark Perry, was a panellist. Were you there, too?
The event comprises two days of thought-provoking panels and presentations. It’s also a superb networking opportunity – re-connecting with peers and customers, and making new contacts across the superyacht and investor ecosystem.
Superyacht Investor’s attendees are a cross-section of the industry; senior executives from all stages of the superyacht lifecycle. There are CEOs of shipyards, surveyors, registries, yacht management, brokers, financiers, crew management and insurers.
Our own panel – Expert Strategies for Modern Yacht Transactions – generated discussions on the complexities of handling large multi-stage transactions whether for yacht purchase, refit or operational management and the importance of building long-term, “trusted advisor” relationships.
The need for speed was another recurring theme for the panel and across the whole event – in initial KYC and account opening, and in processing initial and ongoing payments.
Distilling down insightful panel debates, coffee conversations and refreshment repartee, here are just a few of our takeaways from the rest of the event.
A strong market – Despite the global and economic uncertainties, the outlook for the superyacht sector is positive, especially at the high-end of the market (80m+). The US market is reporting its strongest January in many years.
Changing faces – Brokers and yacht managers discussed the renewed strength of the US market, but also the growth of Asian markets alongside the Middle East, where the latter often serves the non-dom community.
Advancing technology – The consequences of better offshore connectivity (Starlink) opens the opportunity for remote, augmented-reality maintenance, with the opportunity to optimise engineering costs. The same connectivity gives owners greater visibility of operations.
Evolving requirements – Improved connectivity means owners can spend more time on their boats, connected 24/7, and working from their private onboard office/library. More time onboard can change both the design and economics of a yacht.
Adapting design – Yacht design and shipyards are adapting to changing demands with Turkish yards now in competition for premium commissions. Quality remains paramount.
All in all, Superyacht Investor London is a very valuable meeting point for the industry. In contrast to the (equally valuable but very different) boat shows, Superyacht Investor is a purely B2B event aimed at senior professionals in the business of building, buying, operating and selling superyachts. It’s already in our diary for 2026.
